I imagine freedom as being able to stay in one’s home, community, country without living under the threat of violence. I dream of a future where neighborhoods are not war zones, where young people are not killing each other over turf, for respect and in retaliation. A future where children don’t need to practice active shooter drills in school. I dream of freedom as a future where people can move freely without fear of being attacked because of their skin color, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. A future where we can worship, dance, learn, and go about our daily lives in peace.
